ESIG versus COVID-19: understand how we are shortening distances in pandemic times

Novidades

The year 2020 will remain forever in our memories, like the one in which we face a pandemic never before seen in the world: the coronavirus.

The year 2020 will remain forever in our memories, like the one in which we face a pandemic never before seen in the world: the coronavirus. With it, incalculable challenges arose, the main one being reconciling health care and the development of the economy. Health care imposed restrictive measures such as social isolation, the temporary closure of educational, commercial and medical institutions and the adoption of new hygiene measures for the entire population.

ESIG, as a service provider in the area of technology, faced a triple challenge: serving its customers in the areas of education and health, maintaining the excellence that characterizes it, while seeking to innovate, enabling communication, shortening distances and adapting to restrictive measures adopted in the face of the pandemic. But great challenges cause the adoption of great innovations, and, in this way, ESIG has been facing the crisis.

In the educational field, the company strengthened the use of the Virtual School of the Integrated Education Management System (SIGEduc) environment, also launching a new videoconferencing resource, enabling the continuity of learning in more than 1,000 schools in the state network of Rio Grande do Norte and Amapá. This same resource was also adopted in higher education, through the SIGAA academic system. Some benefited institutions were: State University of Maranhão (UEMA), State University of Pará (UEPA) and Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Sergipe (IFS).

In the medical field, ESIG’s first spin-off, the QuarkClinic, launched a telemedicine module integrated into the medical record, allowing health professionals to adopt restrictive measures in relation to the pandemic, while providing assistance to their patients in a such a critical moment. Within this module, the functionality of the digital signature was included, providing the authentication of medical documents, such as prescription, request for exams, certificates, without the need for physical contact with the patient.
